Users & Mailboxes
In Purelymail, Users represent unique email addresses, each with its own dedicated inbox and private login credentials. We operate on a resource-based model, meaning we don't charge per user or 'per seat'.
Account vs. User
It is important to distinguish between your Purelymail Account (which you use to log into the management portal and pay your bill) and your Users (which are the actual mailboxes used to send and receive email).
Unlimited Mailboxes
You are free to organize your mail with as many distinct users as you like for personal, business, or project-specific needs. Whether you use our $10/year Simple Pricing or our Advanced Pricing, you only pay for the total resources (storage and bandwidth) used across your whole account.
Aliases vs. Users
You don't always need to create a new User for every email address. If you just want to receive mail for info@yourdomain.com in your primary inbox, you can set up an alias or routing rule instead.
You can even create a catch-all rule to direct mail from any possible address at your domain to a single mailbox. You do not need to create User accounts for these addresses; the routing rule will automatically capture and deliver the mail even if the specific address hasn't been created.
Domains & Pricing
- Custom Domains: There is no additional charge for users on domains you own. You can bring as many users as you want to your own domain.
- Shared Domains: If you use our shared domains (like purelymail.com), there is a small annual usage charge per username (typically $0 to $1.20/year depending on length) to prevent name-squatting.
Security & Features
Every user mailbox can be configured with the following:
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Support for TOTP apps (like Google Authenticator) and hardware security keys.
- App Passwords: Unique passwords for third-party apps (Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.) that don't support 2FA directly.
- Search Indexing: Server-side indexing for fast searching. This can be toggled per-user for those who prefer higher privacy.
- Spam Filtering: Individual control over spam protection levels and filtering.
Management
Users are managed via the Users page in the account portal. From there, you can create new mailboxes, reset passwords, or adjust individual security settings.
